Lake Mindemoya

Lake Mindemoya is a beautiful lake, perfect for swimming, canoeing, kayaking, boating and so much more!

Mindemoya Lake is located near the town of Mindemoya on Manitoulin Island. The lake is the third largest on Manitoulin Island. It has a perimeter of 33.5 km, its marl clay base imparting to a deep blue to light green colour. The lake reaches depths of 21 m, while the average depth is 7.3m.

The lake also has it's own island inside of it! Now called Treasure Island, this 87-acre hump of hardwood-clad limestone, rearing some 300 feet above lake level, was originally known as Mindemoya, or more properly, ‘Mindimowenh,” in the Ojibwetongue, which means “old woman.”
